BANGSAND trip This trip almost didn't happen. In fact the night before the trip we still weren't sure who was coming or who could/couldn't come on the trip. It was a hectic plan, for sure. The goal always was to take a trip down to Bangsand ( บางแสน ) with friends. Originally we were going to spend a night or two down there, but nobody could work out the time. Everyone was busy on these days and these days that it was impossible to fit it into the timeline to be away for even one or two nights. Eventually though we concluded, on the night before the trip, that we would go on a day trip. me (the driver), Austin (the planner), Palm & Martin (friends). everyone a liability in their own way. The Trip I met them at Austins house sometime after 9am. We were going to meet at 8, but they said it was too early, so we shifted the time to 9am. Still I got there late because I'd never been to his house before and oh my the navigation there is amazingly hectic. We lingered at his house less than ten minutes and headed staright out to Bangsand, and made it there soon enough. The traffic wasn't bad at all. A little bit of crazy 'morning' commute around Bangna area but once we passed it the roads were mostly clear. Before we got to Bangsand we stopped in Cholburi city and stopped at the Cafe Amazon that was on the Chollamarkvithi Bridge. A Cafe Amazon that was literally hovering above the sea/the water. It was cool. after that we, went straight into Bangsand itself and looked for a place to eat. First, we went to a random restaurant that "had many stars on Google", but when we got there it did not inspire much confidence, and so rather we moved on to a tried & tested place, a restaurant called "Deeprompt" which is at the end of Bangsand beach itself. It is an very old place, and very formal. Like it never left the 70s, which is wonderful. The food was great too, and their Hoijor (Fried Crab roll) is a must-order. Afterwards we went straight to Bangsand beach, and did nothing. No plan. We were super full from lunch so we avoided the touristy part of the beach with the expensive chairs and the Som-Tum and the roast chicken, and instead went towards the end of Bangsand beach (way up mountain side with no people, not the touristy end that connects to Vornnapa beach), and we just chilled around for like 10 minutes before deciding it was too hot and got the hell out of there. Where to go and no idea... so eventually we said let's try and go Kaow Kiew zoo (สวนสัตว์ เขาเขียว ), since it's close. We didn't even realise it was the Moo-Deng zoo until we actually got there and saw what all the advertising. It surprisingly did not have much people, but maybe that was because we went on a weekday. Still, it was a good thing. Here is a picture of Moo-deng, I don't know what all the rave about it was, to be honest. I think it's really ugly. And slimy. Blech,Gross.
Anyway we rented a golf cart and they all had fun playing driving the kart. Martin drove crazy fast so I have no idea how he got a license in Austrialia because, yeah. Pretty sure it's illegal to do that there. Drive like a mad-man. Here's a picture we took inside the zoo with the thing of the dudes from the Magadascar movie. I thought it was funny that Martin stood in front of Marty the zebra. fitting for his name, I guess. Once they had enough fun drifting the golf kart in the zoo and driving down the wrong way and up slopes golf carts were probably not engineered to do, we left for home. Oh, but before that we fed (well, we except me, because I don't like feeding animals) these deer that were roaming around the park. Martin bought like 4 bunches of grass for like 20 baht so yeah. cheap, cheap.
After that we drove home , back to Bangkok. I didn't want to drive long distance in the dark (at least not in the big Fortuner I'm not super duper used to, anyway), so we hurried everyone to leave before the sun set. We got back to Bangkok around 6 pm just as the sun was setting and we stopped at Central Eastgate (or whatever the hell its called) and we had a quick dinner before I dropped everyone back at Austin's house. Fun day. And everyone was saying let's plan for next time, and make sure there is a wide open space with a golf kart rental. Yikers. Return to the start page |
